It Was A Great Day!

Not only did I finish my Mermaids but my hubby and son took me out to dinner to celebrate my birthday!  It was a very nice evening, but I know you all would much rather see my Mermaids, so here they are....

MERMAIDS OF THE DEEP BLUE

I am really happy with how it turned out.  I thought I would die with all the beading, but it was worth it!  I plan to have it professionally framed.  I don't know what kind of frame to get yet, but I don't think it needs a mat, what do you think?  I don't frame too many things so I'm not sure what I should do.  Mat or no mat?

I'm on vacation next week so I plan to spend some time going through my stitching room to put together  something for my first giveaway!  I have won three giveaways so I think it's time that I had one of my own.  So check back here sometime next week to see what I come up with for my giveaway!

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Stitching!

I think it looks stunning, and it depends on the frame if you need a mat or not. If you're having it professionally done, I'd ask to see some mats anyway...it certainly doesn't hurt to compare it with or without!

A gorgeous finish.

Oh, the mermaids are gorgeous, Carrie! Congratulations on a wonderful finish. I would use a mat or two, because they would help keep the glass up off the beads.

Congratulations on your finish - would have loved to have seen a close up of all that beading - seen them sparkle - I am not keen on mats personally for my cross stitch but if I can't find the right frame then I will use a mat to help make the piece look good - as for keeping the glass off the beads you can just use spacers if you don't want a mat. Look forward to see your mermaids framed I am sure no matter what your decision it's going to look very pretty - Happy belated birthday!

Gorgeous and well worth the beading time.
My mermaid didn't need a mat but the framer made a thin frame as a border which went under the glass to keep it off the beads.

I am currently working on this one too! I am thinking of going with no matte personally because it allows the mermaids to look like they are floating in the water. I did Emerald Mermaid and had her framed with no matte and I like how she looks like she can just swim off.

As for all the beads, some spacers can be added to lift the glass off of the piece. You can't even tell that the spacers are there since they are hidden under the lip of the frame.
